Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, or Ballard Locks in Seattle carry more boat traffic than other locks in the United States. On the morning I visited they had just started on a project on the large locks and thus they were fully drained. This allowed me to see a different view of the locks than normal with the various growth along the sides and gates fully visible. With a long lens I was able to photograph these details which may only be partially visible as the water rises and lowers for the vessels passing through.
