When this image was taken in November 2010 the snow had been falling in the mountains the days before hand making it hard to know what the conditions would be at sunset in Denver. One evening I headed out to the Lowry development on the east part of Denver. This area was once home to the Lowry Air Force Base and over the past fifteen years it has been redeveloped into a new neighborhood. Some of the more noticeable reminders of the past are the large hangars which remain, one of which is the home to the Wings over the Rockies Air and Space Museum.
As the sun started to set, it looked like I may luck out and get some color in the clouds. Once I settled on photographing near the hangars I set-up my shot and hoped for something to happen and the evening did bring a little color to the sky.
